COMPEX® Performance 3.0 HAS 6 PROGRAMS
1 Warmup, 3 Strength, 1 Recovery, 1 TENS
Endurance
Helps you cope with long duration aerobic activities and increases muscle resistance to fatigue by building slow twitch muscle fibers.
Resistance
An all- around program for endurance and strength, building both slow and fast twitch muscle fibers.
Strength
Increases sheer muscle strength better than most conventional weightlifting alone, with less risk of muscle-tendon injury.
Prewarm Up
Does not contract the muscle. It runs at a frequency specifically targeted to increase blood flow to help oxygenate the muscles prior to a workout or competition.
Training Recovery / Active Recovery
Facilitates relaxation aid of muscles and helps reduce muscle soreness and stiffness following competition or demanding workouts.
Pain Relief / TENS
Helps decrease the intensity of pain and increase motion and function.
The principle of electrostimulation is to help stimulate nerve fibers by means of electrical impulses transmitted by electrodes. The electrical pulses generated by Compex® Performance™ are high quality pulses offering comfort and efficiency. The parameters of the Compex ® Performance™ programs (number of impulses per second, contraction time, rest time, total program time) subject the muscles to different types of work, according to muscular fibers. Select a frequency that feels comfortable, refer to instruction manual for more information.
Electrostimulation can be a very effective way to help make your muscles work:
- With significant improvement of different muscular qualities
- Without cardio-vascular or mental fatigue
- With limited stress on the joints and tendons
TENS, otherwise known as Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, deliver electrical pulses through the skin to the cutaneous (surface) and afferent (deep) nerves to help control pain. Unlike drugs and topical ointments, TENS does not have any systemic side effects.
TENS helps provide pain relief in two ways. One is the gate control mechanism. When the body is injured, both pain and non-pain impulses are sent to the brain from the nervous system. The pulses travel through nerves in our skin to deeper nerves, and then to the spinal cord and brain. Along the path are many areas referred to as “gates”. These gates determine which impulses can continue to the brain. The gates help prevent the brain from receiving too much information too quickly.
Since the same nerve cannot carry a pain and a non-pain impulse at the same time, the stronger, non-pain impulse from the TENS device helps “control the gate”.
The other mechanism of pain control is endorphin release. The TENS device can trigger the body’s natural pain killers, called endorphins. These chemicals interact with receptors, blocking the perception of pain. This is similar to the way the pharmaceutical drug, morphine, works, but without the side effects.
