Quadriceps Electrode Placement

In just a few short steps, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of your Compex® device.

How to Place Electrodes for the Quadricep Muscles

You have two options. Option 1: The recommended option is to use one 2x4 double snap Compex® electrode and two 2x2 single-snap electrodes. Option 2: You can use two 2x4 Compex® single-snap electrodes if you’re wanting to work multiple muscles at once.

OPTION 1: Place the 2x4 double-snap electrode at the top of the quad and two 2x2 electrodes at the bottom. Place one 2x2 electrode on the VMO which is the knot on the inside, at the end of your quad just above the knee. Place the other 2x2 electrode at the end of the vastus lateralis which is the muscle that runs down the outside of the quad.

For the Compex® Wired device, connect the black snap on the 2x4 electrode and the corresponding red snap connects below to the 2x2 electrode on the same side.

For the Compex® Wireless device, the setup is the same. Attach one pod to the top electrode and the other end of the same pod onto the electrode just below. If there is slack, you can twist the pod to tighten.

OPTION 2: Place one 2x4 single-snap Compex® electrode at the top of the quadricep and the other at the end of the muscle group, right above the knee.

For the Compex® Wired device, connect the black snap on the top 2x4 electrode and the corresponding red snap onto the bottom electrode.

The Compex® Wireless device setup is the same. Attach one pod to the top electrode and the other end of the same pod onto the electrode just below. If there is slack, you can twist the pod to tighten.
