| Wireless initiatives,
in varying forms, have helped to span the digital
divide reaching areas on the island underserved
by conventional broadband wireline technology. Harry
Garcia, president of COMPEX Corporation, knew the
timing was right to bring his company's satellite-based
broadband service solutions to his native Puerto
Rico.
"We spent two years analyzing the market,"
explained the 20-year industry veteran. "We
saw we could offer high speed internet access,
anywhere on the island, for consumers and businesses,
but more importantly we can take the internet
to any location where there is no infrastructure."
Mobile Universe opened its Puerto Rico offices,
offering individuals, businesses, and mobile road
warriors an alternative to wireline and wireless
intenet access via satellite technology.
